BLACK SANI

Wendell Black aka Black Sani...

I am from the Caribbean Island of Trinidad & Tobago. I grew up in the village of Arouca which is located in the East of Trinidad and went to the Arouca Anglican School where I was heavily involved in music at a tender age in the school choir.

Those were the early days of the Michael Jackson craze and of course I considered myself his biggest fan. But as years passed I had to find my own identity in the world of music.

I started of with the sobriquet “Blacks” which is my surname but then people kept asking if I was Blaxx from Roy Cape. That being the case I found it wise to change my name and hence the name Black Sani was born.

BlackSani - Wendell BlackSani Black the Black musical genius, Sani being the bright one hence the black musical genius – BlackSani.

BlackSani has been performing professionally since 2009 and have written songs of many genres Dancehall, Soca and even R&B. My love for music spans some 37 years and music has always been a part of my life but I just never got the break in mainstream.

It was in 2017, I started Sani Music Studio where I create the musical magic as a production Engineer and song writer. I must admit that I do not know everything musically and is therefore humble to work with others to achieve his musical goals. It is instructive to note that networking is the key to success in this 21st century. This led to the collaboration with two of the industry top Soca Icons where Black Sani Co-produced of the J’ouvert Power Riddim "We Now Start to Party" Machel & Superblue and "Dumpa Truck" Black Sani with Machel Montano and Superblue.

It 2019 after one year waiting to release the collaborative hit "Dumpa Truck" on the J’ouvert power riddim along side Superblue and Machel Montano "We Now Start to Party" That particular project made it easy for me to get some musical recognition, radio airplay and even making the semis in the International Soca Monarch for the second time. The first time in the Soca semis was 2009. If it was not for that strategy with my team (Think Thank) and IQ promotions I may not have had that opportunity to accomplish so much in 2019 on my own.

The opportunity to work with Superblue and Machel opened up Black Sani world of music to a new process of doing things within the music business and also give me a different insight into how things should be done. No longer was a song just mixed and mastered but it had to be done by the best. The engineer that mixed and mastered Dumpa Truck in 2019 Scratch Master from Grenada mixed and mastered BlackSani 2020 hit song RBG.

RBG, is a song that honors the past and the year 2020 was actually the 100th anniversary of Marcus Garvey- the Red the Black and Green the movement of a people under one UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association's) flag the Pan African Flag of 1920. This flag proceeded all the flags of the Pan African world including the Caribbean which did not have independence at the time and of course no national flag in the early 1900's even up to 1958 when the Caribbean established the federation and hence the one Caribbean federation flag. Thereafter most Caribbean countries became independent.

RBG - a people celebrating their freedoms, independence, strengths and victories "On the road" of life, RBG. Special mention has to be made to the RBG Carnival group of Miami which opened up BlackSani world to a new understanding of the past and hence influenced the song RBG.

The year 2021 will be a unique year for the world of Socaand music generally due to the Covid 19 Pandemic but it is a year that I will have to respond with a musical offering that the world should look out for with the title‘No Lockdown” in collaboration with the Soca superstars “Loose Cannon” – Major General, Vigarous and music producer Chenko Productions. The song “No Lockdown” is a different narrative from the agenda and propaganda being pushed at present by the world media controlled by the elites to play head games while bending facts and statistics to create a narrative of fear to push the world in a particular direction.

My future musical projects will be more focused on world events and trends for there is a great shift to lead the world a particular direction that does not look too promising.

Anyone wishing to follow my musical journey can look me up on Instagram via my profile BlackSani1 and Facebook as Sani Music Studio. Music is life and Black Sani will dance the beat #AnIsDat Up Like Drone…….
