Kevin “Chuby Chad” Oliver
I grew up in Lower Questelles, on the Central Leeward side of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
I attended the Intermediate High School for my secondary education. I graduated in 2001. Two years later,
I moved to Montreal, Canada where I lived for 9 years. While living there, I met up with another artist, C Koo Slim, and I started recording music with him in a closet. I began my music career as a rapper, and then along the way my culture pulled me back in, and that was where I found the love for soca music.
In 2012, I moved back to St. Vincent and the Grenadines where I began furthering my career in soca music and pushing it to the next level. To this day, I have recorded several hit songs that was enjoyed by all my soca fans in St. Vincent and across the globe.
I got my artiste name, Chuby Chad, from growing up with my friends. The name stuck with me for years into adulthood. Actually, Chuby Chad is my nickname and I decided to keep and use it as my artiste name.
I got the inspiration to perform soca music from some of my local Vincentian bands such as “Touch” and “Exodus”, which were two of the biggest bands in the soca arena while I was growing up. Also, I appreciate observing some of the big soca artiste right now in the game such Lyrikal, Skinny Fabulous and Problem Child.
So far, I have written all of the musical material I performed. I try my best to manage my job and still find time for the studio to work on my upcoming projects.

When music career started: Early this year – 2020
How it started: Always had a very strong interest and passion for soca. It is a journey I always wanted to pursue. I started by shopping around for riddims on Youtube and writing my own lyrics.
First song (Released): “Outside” currently at 14k views on Julianspromo, 1.5k on my channel
First show& Stage Experience: Jersey City Carnival Live, then I was on World Fete Live
Where I am now: I would say I am at the bottom of the ladder seeing that I just started this year.
How I got there: Just started this year.
Where I want to go: Up the ladder, get my name out there in the ears of Soca lovers, and of course beyond that (getting booked for shows, more stage performances, etc).
How I plan on getting there: By keep pushing forward, I am very determined and enthusiastic when I pursue anything and everything I do; promoting my music on all music and social media platforms; live interviewing on radio stations; getting my music out to DJs; eventually get a proper manager to help me make these moves and accomplishments; etc.
